Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative is nearly halfway toward its goal of planting 1.3 million native trees, representing one tree for every resident in the state.

Mahalo was given to HLRI by Highgate for participation in the Waikiki Gateway Park Clean-up on April 11, 2024. There were about 30 people from Legacy Partners Ambassador, Highgate, City & County, and HLRI. Great community service and networking!

<p class="">Planting trees of hope, trees to help heal our earth, and trees for our keiki is what the Lutheran Church of Honolulu did…</p>

<p class="">Eco Rotary of Kaka’ako and HI Pyro volunteered with Hawaiian Legacy in the Legacy Forest at La’ie at Gunstock Ranch.</p>

Mahalo @rotary_d5000 @pacificbuddhistacademy ! It was the day after St. Patrick's Day and Eco Rotary of Kaka'ako and their team of volunteers were greening up Hawaii. They added another 243 native Hawaiian trees on a hillside overlooking the Rotary District 5000 Legacy Forest in Lai'e. Totalling 9,420 native trees that Rotary volunteers have planted by hand! These hala, ma'o, lonomea, and wiliwili plants have a good chance of surviving with the care from the Hawaiian Legacy

The steep and rocky hillside overlooking the Rotary Legacy Forest was teeming with Rotarians and their families and friends when Eco Rotary of Kakaʻako held their Volunteer Service Day in mid-January. Someday, that hillside will be a blanket of white Maʻo cotton and other native Hawaiian plants. Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative is grateful for the Rotarians' commitment to Hawaii and our environment.
